Greer Hindmarsh Architects is a very small practice based in Sydney. We specialise in the design of new houses and alterations/additions to houses so that they may as well be new. We’re also good at small commercial projects, having been highly commended, with Tonkin Zulaikha Greer Architects, in the NSW Chapter of the Australian Institute of Architects Awards for an office building at John Street, Waterloo.
With 20 years of experience in Sydney, we’ve learned what it is that clients new to the building world want to know about the role of the architect, the role of the builder and what they can expect of the designing and construction process.
In our design we aim for clean lines, comfort, an impression of warmth and sophistication. We prefer the use of natural materials to give an enduring beauty. We try to avoid wastage and the need for future heavy maintenance, in order to play fair with the planet.
Clients’ suggestions about finishes and fixtures are welcome, and we look for ways to re-use bits and pieces they’re fond of. On the other hand, if the client prefers us to make all the decisions, we’re happy with that too. We take budgets very seriously.
We have great relationships with friendly, able and economical builders who have built our work over the years.
